• AIDS Patient Jerry Gonzales Sentenced for Rape of four boys
  Emotions ran extremely high in a Lucas County courtroom today as a Toledo man striken with AIDS learned he's going to prison for having sex with four boys between 14 and 17 years old . 46-year-old Jerry Gonzales will most likely die behind bars. Gonzales used to be an "AIDS activist and educator". Gonzales had sex with the boys and videotaped the crimes in his bedroom knowing full well he had AIDS. "What I pray for is a painful death because of what you have done is just unforgiveable," said one of the fathers.

• Vietnamese man Vinh Quang Pham found guilty of rape and murder
  After little more than a day of deliberations, a jury on Thursday convicted an Escondido man of the ambush murder of his sister-in-law's boyfriend and the rape of his sister-in-law. Vinh Quang Pham sat motionless as a translator repeated the guilty verdicts to him in Vietnamese. The jury convicted Pham on all eight counts he faced, including an allegation that he used scissors to cut off his sister-in-law's clothes in a second attack, an attempted rape interrupted when his wife came home.
• Wave of Hmong immigration temporarily halted due to tuberculosis threat
  A handful of active cases of tuberculosis, including one in Minnesota, has temporarily halted the latest wave of Hmong immigrants coming from the Wat Tham Krabok compound in Thailand, State Department and state health officials said.   ALBANY, Ga. -- A transvestite who pumped industrial silicone into other men to give them feminine features pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the death of a man who suffered complications. Stephen Thomas, 31, will serve five years in prison and 10 years on probation under the plea to felony involuntary manslaughter.
