  The son of Secretary-General Kofi Annan received payments from a firm with a U.N. Iraqi oil-for-food contract more than four years longer than the world body previously admitted, the U.N. spokesman said Friday. Spokesman Fred Eckhard said the panel investigating alleged corruption in the oil for food program has been told by Kojo Annan's lawyer about the payments.
  

• 13-year-old girl Raped By Hispanic She Found In Her Home
  Montgomery County police are searching for a man who raped a 13 year-old girl in her own home Friday afternoon. The incident occurred . just after the girl returned from school. When the girl walked into the home she found a man inside with a mask over his head. The suspect sexually assaulted the girl before leaving through the front door of the home. The girl called 911 to report the attack. She described her attacker as a Hispanic male with a stocky build and about five feet, six inches tall wearing a blue and white plaid shirt, khaki pants and a black mask.Police are offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in the case. - (Hellcat)

  PHOENIX (AP) -- A man accused of rape and kidnapping has remained jailed for six months while court officials struggle to identify his language. Authorities believe Octavio Luis Perez, 23, may be faking an inability to speak Spanish. But so far, linguists have narrowed his primary language to an exotic dialect of the high villages of Guatemala and Mexico. A 17-year-old girl told police he put a pillow over her chest, held her down and raped her.

  Post-apartheid Cape Town - The gruesome details of a baby girl's murder has emerged in a court case on Monday. A sangoma (witch-doctor) allegedly beat one-year-old Phelisa Msengana on the head with the horn of an animal before twisting her head from her body. The infant's stomach was then cut open and her intestines removed and cooked for muti. The girl's mutilated body was found in a forested area of the township. The child's mother Lindiwe Msengana, her father Bongani Mzizana and the sangoma, Duma Dudu, pleaded not guilty to charges of murder, child abuse and mutilating a corpse.
