Diverse trio of hurricane evacuees accused of killing White woman who helped them  Three hurricane evacuees were charged with capital murder Saturday in the strangulation of Betty Blair, a 77-year-old church leader, mother of three daughters and the widow of former Pasadena school board President Robert "Bob" Blair. Jimmy Hoang Le, 18, Stephanie Jacobo, 18, both from the Beaumont area, and Roosevelt Smith Jr., 43, of Louisiana, were charged with murdering Blair during a robbery at her Pasadena home Friday. An active member of St. Pius V Catholic Church, Blair had been helping the three by paying them to do odd jobs and yard work on her property. "It appears that those that she tried to help were the ones that murdered her," said Pasadena Police Department spokesman Vance Mitchell. The three lived together in an apartment in the 900 block of Randall in Pasadena, Mitchell said. - (veritas1515, Gman) |

Sports: Central Florida Soccer Coach Charged With Molesting Two Girl Players Deputies busted a soccer coach on charges he molested two of his players. Parents worry the two girls aren't the only ones. Steve Oliver, 32, was a volunteer for the Soccer Club. He faces 16 counts of assaulting two sisters. Oliver told the girls "something bad would happen" if they told anyone about what happened inside his house. After the girls' mother became suspicious, the girls told a story - they were babysitters at Oliver's home. He'd met them on the soccer field and befriended their mother. She was comfortable with the babysitting, at least as first. "I started to get suspicious when I saw her on his lap and thought, what is a 30-year-old doing with a 14-year-old on his lap?" the girls' mother said. - (war eagle) - (more sports) |
Sports: Boys Football Coach Arrested, admits to shocking pedophile homosexual relations with a 14 year old boy Dayton, Ohio -"Shocking" allegations against a little boys 'pee-wee' football coach. The coach has been arrested for allegedly having sexual relations with a boy. Police believe there may be more victims. Daryl Lee Thomas was taken into custody. Thomas has admitted molesting a 14-year-old boy. - (more sports) |

Dangerous Black Florida suspect sought in slaying of White surfer   Columbia police and U.S. marshals are looking for a Florida man they say killed a 25-year-old surfer in that state last month. Randy Demarco Carter, 22, allegedly fled the state with an accomplice after the Sept. 23 fatal shooting of Austin Paine near Indialantic, Fla., a coastal community east of Orlando. Authorities in Brevard County, where the slaying occurred, said it might have been drug-related. Carter, who goes by the street name Crime, is believed to have friends and family in Columbia. Carter is described as black, about 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing about 230 pounds. A photo released by Columbia police shows Carter’s hair in cornrows, but Harrell said it’s likely Carter’s hair has been cut. - (Rasp) - (crime) - (Black-on-White) |
"Blue" Black Man Sentenced to only 10 Years in Death of White Portsmouth Woman  The man convicted of killing a woman in Portsmouth, then dumped her body in Newport News, will spend 10 years in jail for the crime. James Nutter, 26, was sentenced Tuesday by a Portsmouth judge.It was April, 2003, when the body of 22-year old Katrina Marie Boscia was discovered in the woods near a Warwick Boulevard go-go club where she worked. Nutter, a truck driver from Roanoke, was an Army reservist stationed at Fort Eustis at the time of the murder.A jury found Nutter guilty of second degree murder in April. - (Tyrone N. Ex-New Orleans cop sentenced to death  A former New Orleans policeman was sentenced to death again for ordering the murder of a woman who filed a brutality complaint against him. Len Davis was convicted in 1996 of violating the civil rights of Kim Groves by having her killed. He was sentenced to death but that was thrown out on appeal. Earlier this year, a jury sentenced him to death for a second time. At the time of Groves' murder in October 1994, Davis was the target of an FBI drug sting that included a tap on his telephone. His call to a convicted hitman was recorded. So was his reaction to news that Groves had been shot. Police: Youth Pastor Mohammad Sought Sex Online A youth minister became the 10th suspect nabbed by an undercover officer posing as a 15-year-old girl in Peachtree City. Police officials said Pastor Mohammad Bolton, 31, arranged a meeting over the Internet with a person who he thought was a 15-year-old girl. Bolton then drove to Peachtree City on the premise that he and the teenager would have sex. "The undercover agent was talking to another individual and he broke in on the chat and wanted to talk to her and was very open, did not care that she was underage." Bolton even emailed a sexual image of himself to the officer. When he arrived in the Fayette County community he was arrested and charged with violation of the computer pornography and child exploitation act. - (Brewski) - (crime) |
Plea entered in rape of teenage girls by gorilla masked man   A man who was linked by DNA evidence to the 2000 sexual assaults of two teenage girls pleaded guilty to both offenses on the eve of his trial. Jason Antonio Smith, 28, appeared casual about the incidents in court. In the first assault, which occurred Oct. 30, 2000, Smith donned a gorilla mask and forced two young girls at knife point into a vacant shed. He directed the 12-year-old to stand in the corner while he raped the 14-year-old who was told if she resisted, he would assault the younger girl. The students were on their way to school when the assault occurred. The other assault occurred Dec. 4, 2000 in the parking lot at the Beloit Mall. The 18-year-old victim was in her car when a man with a scarf around his face knocked on her window and threatened her with what appeared to be a gun. Rosendo Rodriguez III Indicted in Rape and Murder of Pregnant White Woman   A San Antonio man is accused in the death of a woman found stuffed into a suitcase dumped in a landfill -- and her unborn child. Twenty-five-year-old Rosendo Rodriguez III has been indicted in Lubbock on capital murder and aggravated sexual assault charges. The indictment alleges Rodriguez raped and killed 29-year-old Summer Baldwin; that he killed Baldwin and the unborn child; and that he killed a child under age six -- the unborn child. A sanitation worker on September 13th found the body of Baldwin at a landfill about 15 miles northwest of Lubbock. Authorities say Baldwin, who was pregnant with her fifth child, had been beaten to death. - (NNN Newsroom) - (crime) Citizenship status of suspect not reported. |
Fairfax Police Arrest Springfield Rape Suspect Javier Amilcar Velasquez A Springfield man was arrested Tuesday and charged with the rape of a woman in her home earlier this month. Authorities said they used neighborhood canvassing and a bloodhound to identify 18-year-old Javier Amilcar Velasquez as the suspect. At about 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 7, a 23-year-old Springfield-area woman was awake in bed when she heard the back door open, according to Fairfax County police. She got out of bed and found a man in her home. He sexually assaulted her and then fled. - (NNN Newsroom) - (crime) Citizenship status of suspect not reported. |
Days before execution, confessed and convicted black inmate now claims innocence in rape and murder of two White girls    One of four men convicted in the April 1991 murder of two sisters on the Chain of Rocks Bridge is scheduled to be executed Oct. 26.The Missouri Supreme Court set the date Monday for Marlin Gray, 37, who was sentenced to death in December 1992 for his role in the rapes and murders of Robin Kerry, 19, and Julie Kerry, 20. The sisters were stripped, beaten and raped over the course of an hour before they were shoved off a pier of the bridge into the Mississippi River. Their cousin, Tom Cummins, 19, was forced to watch the assault and then ordered to jump into the river. He survived. Jurors convict black men in double homicide of White couple  ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Two Kansas City men were found guilty Thursday of killing a St. Joseph couple in their bedroom after breaking into their home looking for a previous tenant, a suspected drug dealer. Jurors deliberated about eight hours before convicting Terrell Dawson, 25, and Javonty Steward, 23, of two counts of first-degree murder, two counts armed criminal action and one count each of kidnapping and first-degree burglary. The bodies of the victims, Danny Watson Jr., 31, and Dawn Thornton, 28, were found in April 2004 as her son from a previous relationship and a child she and Watson had together while still in high school returned from an overnight stay with their grandparents. The couple had recently reunited. Parents of the victims smiled as the verdicts were read, while Steward's parents looked down and shook their heads. Death Warrant Signed for Crips Co-Founder * Death Warrant Signed - "This case has taken over 24 years to get to this point,"  On October 11th, the U.S. Supreme Court rejected Stanley "Tookie" Williams' appeal to investigate the "racism and discrimination" at the heart of the case, as well as Tookie's innocence issues. The prosecutor in Tookie's original case removed all of the Black jurors from the jury, leaving an all-white jury to deliberate the case. During the trial, this prosecutor made "racially-coded remarks" during his closing argument, comparing Williams to a Bengal tiger in a zoo, and stating that a black community - South Central Los Angeles - was equivalent to the natural "habitat" of a Bengal Tiger. - (crime) |
