Black Fla. man condemned in girl's gator death  Harrel Franklin Braddy sits in court in Miami in August. A judge sentenced him to death on Monday, nearly nine years after he left a 5-year-old girl to be eaten alive by alligators in the Everglades and tried to kill her mother. Braddy, 58, attacked Shandelle Maycock and daughter Quatisha after he was released early from prison for good behavior in another case. He was convicted in July of first-degree murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, attempted escape and other charges. She was alive when alligators bit her on the head and stomach, a medical examiner said.

Black nursing home employee gets 99 years for rape of geriatric and pediatric patients Jurors in Belton decided on a 99-year prison sentence Tuesday after finding Earnest Lee Glover, Jr., 46, of Temple guilty of two counts of aggravated sexual assault in attacks last year on residents of the Bell County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Temple. Glover was arrested after a sexual assault was reported on Dec. 7, 2006 at the facility. The center provides care for both geriatric and pediatric patients. At the time of his arrest, he had worked at the center as a certified nurse’s assistant for about year, police said. - (Newsroom) - (crime) |

Black preacher's son charged with rape and murder of 99-year-old grandmother Authorities in Florida have charged a 17-year-old with sexually assaulting and killing a 99-year-old woman in her home early Tuesday morning. Initially, investigators called the death of Edith Mecalla, who was living with her 77-year-old daughter in Poinciana, Fla., "suspicious." But a medical examiner ruled that the woman's death was a homicide and that she had been the victim of a sexual battery. Deputies arrested Moise O. Another black footballer charged with rape As they walked back to his place, she told Austin Scott she wasn't going to have sex with him. Girls always say things like that, he told police, but often change their minds. The woman fell asleep with her clothes on but woke up with her jeans off and Scott trying to force himself on her, according to court papers. When she tried to get up, the papers say, he punched her in the kidney and pinned her down as he raped her. Scott, who was one of the most celebrated high school football players ever in the Lehigh Valley and has gone on to a checkered career at Penn State University, was charged Friday with raping the woman in his campus apartment in the early morning hours of Oct. 5. - (Newsroom) - (Sports) |

Steve Haney could face up to 24 years in prison for one count of rape and two counts of sexual battery by an authority figure. Haney, 47, was arrested on July 12, 2007, for events that allegedly occurred between September 1, 2001 and December 31, 2006. The victim claims that Haney lured him into performing sex acts at the church study and other locations, beginning when he was 15-years old.
