  • Sexual and Homosexual abuse of Explorer Scouts has gone on for decades across the nation
When a police officer in Largo, Florida, took his own life after being accused of having sex with a 16-year-old Explorer Scout, he left behind a chilling suicide note: “I'm not the only person who's having sex with a minor at the police department,” John Ferraro wrote in 1998. “They really need to tighten up the rules.” The police chief dismissed the claims of a wider scandal as groundless, but an outside investigation found that 11 officers in the department near St. Petersburg had had sex with Explorers, dating to the previous decade.

In the wake of Louisville’s own Explorer scandal, in which two former officers have been accused of sexually abusing Scouts and the police department of covering it up, the Courier-Journal found that over the past 40 years, at least 137 girls and 26 boys have been allegedly raped, seduced, fondled, kissed, dated or otherwise exploited in 28 states by at least 129 law enforcement officers, firefighters and other advisers.

The youngest victims were 13. One was in the sixth grade.

One officer tried to set up three-way sex with Explorers. Another took surreptitious photographs of Explorers’ underwear. A third took bondage photos of boys he took on Civil War re-enactment camping trips. In Warick, Rhode Island, six officers had sex with one girl. In Bandon, Oregon, five officers made a sex tape featuring two girls and two boys....

(BLACK) Man accused of fatally shooting (WHITE) owner of Orlando towing company to remain jailed
Tremain PolkPaul GrenORLANDO, Fla. - The 53-year-old owner of a towing company was fatally shot Tuesday at his downtown business after he was confronted by the 35-year-old owner of an impounded car. Tremain Polk, of Winter Garden, shot Paul Gren shortly before 6 p.m. at the Tow Truck Co. Gunfire could be heard over the phone as an employee called 911 to report that an irate customer was trying to retrieve his vehicle from the tow yard without paying. The worker said Polk had $135, but when she told him the bill would be $285, he became upset and tried to push open a door to a secured office. Polk left when the worker threatened to call police, but while she was helping another customer, she saw Polk's car being driven toward a gate, so she and Gren ran outside. "Polk exited his vehicle and unsuccessfully attempted to open the bay door manually." The employee positioned herself between Polk and the button to open the gate, and he came toward her aggressively, so she pushed him back. Gren produced a gun, held it by his side and told Polk to wait for police, but he said he wanted to leave, so an employee opened a door to let him out. Polk took two steps, turned toward Gren, drew a gun from his waistband and shot Gren three times from point-blank range. - (Black-on-white)

Elijah RobertsAutumn Rebbeca BurkhartJoshua BumphusElijah Roberts has been found guilty of reckless homicide. The jury has recommended Roberts serve 5 years.
(Earlier) Day two of the murder trial involving Henderson man Elijah Roberts, 18, a Central Academy student, wrapped up Wednesday in Henderson Circuit Court with the case going to the jury. Roberts -- who is accused of participating in a shootout last November which resulted in the death of 17-year-old Autumn Burkhart, a student at Henderson County High School -- took the stand in his own defense. Under questioning Roberts described the night that another Henderson man, Joshua Bumphus, 25, allegedly lured him to an alley between Powell and Clay streets and initiated the shootout which left Burkhart dead and Roberts injured. Henderson police said their investigation revealed that Bumphus believed Roberts had burglarized his home and the shootout was in retaliation. Roberts has not been charged for the burglary, but Bumphus was found guilty by a jury of first-degree assault for the injuries suffered by Roberts, and was sentenced to 12 years. According to Roberts, a juvenile female sent him a message on the night of Nov. 17 several days after the alleged burglary, asking to buy marijuana from him. Roberts told the jury he drove to the alley, not to sell marijuana, but to pick up the girl and take her where she could get the drug. - (Black-on-white)

"I'm not the man responsible for Mr. Jenks' death," Henry said. He went on to read a long statement in which he claimed his rights were violated by police and prosecutors during the investigation, questioned whether he was discriminated against because he is black and said he was "denied my right to due process and a fair trial."
