Marcus Tyrone MossOAKLAND, California — A four-time convicted felon was charged Monday with the attempted murder of a police officer for allegedly shooting at a police sergeant in Oakland last month. Marcus Tyrone Moss, 30, of Oakland, was arraigned in Alameda County Superior Court Monday afternoon for allegedly shooting at Sgt. Nadia Clark in the 1900 block of 73rd Avenue at about 9:25 p.m. on July 23. He’s scheduled to return to court on Sept. 28 to enter a plea. Sgt. Bradley Baker wrote in a probable cause statement that Moss ran toward Clark after she crashed into another vehicle at that location while she was responding to a call. Her patrol car was disabled and she was trapped inside. Baker wrote, “As he (Moss) approached the scene, he armed himself with a semiautomatic 9mm handgun and made some anti-police statements before raising the firearm and shooting at Sgt. Clark.” Moss’ firearm appears to have malfunctioned so he manipulated it and pointed it at Clark a second time before running off but it appears that his firearm malfunctioned again, Baker wrote. Clark wasn’t struck by the gunfire but was taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries she suffered in the crash.

  • Oakland police: Man opened fire on Sgt. 'like a coward,' arrest made
OAKLAND, Calif. (KTVU) - The man wanted for opening fire on an Oakland police sergeant over the weekend is now under arrest. Police say he was motivated by anti-police sentiment. Oakland homicide Lt. Roland Holmgren said the man opened fire on Oakland police Sgt. Nadia Clark, "like a coward," as she was trapped in her car after a traffic collision. As she sat dazed from the crash and pinned inside her car, the suspect - unconnected to the collision - walked up and fired a single shot. Clark made a desperate call for help on the police radio: "I just got shot at! I was in a car accident! I can't get out of the car!" Clark wasn't hit by gunfire. As for a motive, police say he may have been inspired by recent killings of police across the country.

Death penalty upheld for (black demon) convicted of murder, rape of 81-year-old White woman and 84-year-old senior citizens
Geraldine Atha MyersBailey Lamar JacksonThe California Supreme Court on Monday upheld the death sentence of a Riverside man convicted of abducting and killing an 81-year-old woman and torturing and raping an 84-year-old woman in 2001. Bailey Lamar Jackson, 45, has been on death row for first-degree murder since October 2005. Jackson also was convicted of other crimes, including attempted murder, torture, rape, burglary and robbery, and was sentenced to 212 years to life for those offenses. While state Supreme Court justices upheld the death penalty, they called for a new jury trial to recalculate the noncapital portion of Jackson’s sentence. That’s because the trial court imposed consecutive sentences for the sex crimes against the 84-year-old woman. A 2001 ruling in a separate case called for sentencing for sex crimes on “a single victim during a single occasion” to result in a single sentence. Geraldine Atha Myers, 81, who lived near Riverside Plaza, disappeared May 13, 2001 – Mother’s Day. The following month, in the same neighborhood, the 84-year-old woman was robbed, tortured, raped and left for dead. - (Black-on-white)
