The crime scene was heavily compromised as someone bleached the majority of the house. • Man who killed Euless officer was high on meth during shooting, family said
  • Family: Sexual abuse, drugs altered man who killed Euless officer
Jorge Brian Gonzalez was a paranoid drug addict who appeared to have a death wish. He had started using drugs as a young teenager, spurred — his family believes — by being repeatedly sexually abused by a man they had met through their Arlington church who is now serving life in prison for the crime. The drug use was steady and extensive. Family members said he had recently been taking “ice” — a street name for methamphetamines, which led to bizarre and sometimes violent behavior. “I sometimes think he wanted to die,” said his father, Jorge Antonio Gonzalez. “What can I say,” Jorge Antonio Gonzalez, speaking in Spanish, said a day after the shootings. “Forgive what my son did. What my son did, I know it was wrong. … I ask for forgiveness from the family.”
Jorge Antonio Gonzalez had come to the United States from Argentina in 2000. Later, the father brought his son and daughter — then ages 7 and 1, respectively — to join him. The biological mother didn’t like living here and went back, he said. But not long after arriving, a young Gonzalez was sexually abused by Guillermo Raul Valle, a man that his family had met through their Arlington church, Iglesia Antioquia. Gonzalez, then 13, took the stand and testified about the sexual abuse he suffered when he was 8 or 9. Family members say as a result of his testimony, Gonzalez was granted a U-Visa, a temporary status for crime victims that allows them to stay in the United States. Family members say he also stole from them to supported his drug habit.

(White) University Park Mother Recalls Gas Station Robbery - a black female held a knife to her 7-year-old son's throat
Brittany GilesBrittany GilesEmily SmithDALLAS – University Park Police have issued a warrant for Brittany Giles, 26, accusing her of holding a knife to a 7-year-old boy’s throat. The boy’s mother, Emily Smith, says she stopped at the Snider Plaza Shell station January 29 to fill up when her path crossed with Giles. She was sitting in the car with her children, when she heard the pump click and got out to return the nozzle. “The gas station attendant started yelling, ‘Hey! Hey!’ ” Smith remembers. “Then I hear someone scream, ‘You’re getting robbed!’ ” Smith spotted her 4-year-old daughter safe in the back seat, and ran to the passenger seat where she’d left 7 year old son had been playing with the radio. “The only thing I saw was him shaking,” she says. “All he could say was ‘Knife. Knife. Knife at my throat. I’m sorry mommy. I’m so sorry. She took your purse. I didn’t know what else to do.’ ” Smith says the woman had opened the passenger door and ordered her son to hand over her purse. He sat perfectly still, though, prompting her to lean across him to grab it herself. When the woman heard the attendant’s screams, she turned, pushing the knife against the boy’s throat. “That’s when he said the knife started going in. He had a tiny little indention. Not cut, not physically harmed, but just a tiny little indention in his precious 7 year old neck,” says Smith. Police say Giles is a criminal known for changing her name and appearance. Surveillance cameras show her at Northpark mall, where police say she charged more than $13,000 to Smith’s stolen credit card. Police have arrested the suspected get away driver, Tiffany James, but Smith wants to see Giles put away too. “I want her to be behind bars. I want her to be held accountable for her actions. So it would give our entire family some peace of mind.” - (Black-on-white)

According to police, the assault happened late Friday night on South Tryon near the Courtyard Marriott. The victim spoke with WBTV, but asked to remain anonymous since he is now fearing for his safety. "I didn't think they were going to do anything. It was like pulling teeth, partly because our own local government people were in effect, hiding it. They were getting a cut, so to speak. Now the government is telling us they are going to place – temporarily – as many as a thousand teenagers from Central America in our midst at Travis Air Force Base.

Lonna Lauramore Barton, 26, made no comments and had no reaction to the sentence. She pleaded guilty in January to one count each of child neglect and lying to police. As part of her plea she agreed to testify against former boyfriend William Ruben Ebron Jr., but that became unnecessary when Ebron confessed and told police where Lonzie’s body had been hidden. Friday there was no discussion about whether Lauramore Barton could still face more charges in Lonzie’s death. Lauramore Barton’s attorneys have said she didn’t know what happened to Lonzie, but Ebron told prosecutors the child drowned in the bathtub while the couple had sex in another room. Ebron was watching Lonzie and the child’s 5-year-old sister that day while Lauramore Barton went to work as a dancer at Wacko’s on Emerson Street. - (Black-on-white)

Police say a Chattanooga couple is enticing strangers for sex on websites like Craigslist and Backpage. But when the men arrive at the public meeting place, they get robbed at gunpoint instead. Now police want to catch this couple before they pull the trigger on the next victim. "It seems to me that it's probably progressing," said Asst. Chief Tracy Arnold. "It started off where the suspect would jump out and say give me what you got, take their wallet, cell phone, jewelry, whatever they have on them. Now it's progressing to the point of, hey drive this car to the nearest ATM and they'll try and max out the card. The suspect denoscription is vague but police say they're looking for a black male in his 20s with dreads, and a white female in her 20s.
