Cambodian-born U.S. naval officer, Commander Michael Misiewicz arrested in bribery corruption scandal
The Navy commander accused of trading information on ship movements to a foreign defense contractor for perks, including Lady Gaga tickets and hookers, was once touted in Navy reports as an immigrant rags-to-riches success story. Command and Captain-Select Michael Vannak Khem Misiewicz, formerly commander of the destroyer class USS Mustin, was arrested earlier this week in connection to a bribery scheme in which he allegedly gave confidential ship schedules and itineraries to the president of Singapore-based Glenn Defense Marine Asia (GDMA) — a company that provides in-port services like tugboats, provisions and fuel among other things to large ships in foreign ports. Misiewicz is also accused of using his position both as commander of the Mustin and then as deputy operations officer for the Navy’s Seventh Fleet to manipulate or influence port-call decisions to drive business to GDMA. In exchange, prosecutors said the president of GDMA, who was also arrested, “provided Misiewicz with paid travel, luxury hotel stays and prostitution services.”

Anthony Paine, 48, was arrested by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department on a charge of second degree robbery. According to a probable cause statement, Paine allegedly pushed a victim against a car in the 3500 block of Washington Street in St. Louis that evening, put his elbow to the victim’s neck and demanded money. The statement says he left the scene with the victim’s wallet. Paine has several past convictions for burglary, larceny, fraud and receiving stolen property running from 1987 to 2003.

Quinton Ayers has been charged with rape of a child. He is being held on $250,000 bond. According to police, Ayers would enter the girl’s bedroom at night and assault her. The victim told police that the first time was Feb. 11, 2010, a date she remembered because it was a friend’s birthday. The most recent time, she told police, was Sept. 19. The victim told police that Ayers would come to her room and sit “on my bed like my mother would do.” He would then touch her, even though she told him to stop, police said. According to the victim, Ayers said, “If you tell anybody, I will take your money.”

SURPRISE, Ariz. - He's a member of the United States Air Force, stationed at Luke Air Force Base in the west valley. But he's been arrested for sexual abuse and attempted sexual assault. In his mug shot, Airman Anthony Banks has two black eyes. That's because someone jumped in to try and stop him from sexually assaulting a woman. This allegedly happened at a party in Surprise about 2:30 a.m. Saturday. The victim told police Banks cornered her in a bathroom and fondled her. Witnesses on the other side of the door heard the victim yell "no" several times, according to court documents. The door was locked, so the homeowner had to break down the door. It was then that the homeowner apparently punched Banks and threw him out of the house. That homeowner then called 911.
