Black attempted to murder a White mother and her four children in confessed racial hate crime MASSAPEQUA, N.Y. -- A white woman said she was in shock after a black man threw a 10-inch chunk of concrete at her sport utility vehicle in what police were labeling a hate crime. Kim McCandless, was driving to the Sunrise Mall with her two daughters, a niece and a nephew, all between 7 months and 4 years old, when the concrete struck her windshield. No one was injured. McCandless said she made eye contact with the attacker before he threw the concrete. "I was in shock," she said. "I didn't understand why. Why me, why my kids, why my car?" Carl Graves threw the concrete at the SUV because the driver was white. Graves and two friends were in the mall and were upset that the arcade and the movie theater were closed. Religion: DNA Leads to Arrest in Rape of Church Worker A rape case that laid dormant for three years until the crime lab got a match on a DNA sample led to charges today in an attack on a Shreveport church worker. Willie Evans Jr., 26, was arrested this afternoon on charges he raped a 43-year-old woman who worked at a church. Police said a man knocked on the church door that day and said he needed assistance. The woman let him in the church and he pulled a gun and raped her, police said. "The case just been pretty dormant without any leads," "The crime lab got a hit on DNA. His address, physical denoscription -- everything about him -- matched the crime scene." Evans was booked on charges of forcible rape. As he was led to jail by detectives, Evans told a reporter, "I didn't do s---." - (Newsroom) - (crime) |

Hearing Held for Teen Accused of Brutal Rape, Murder  A 17-year-old boy was in court today for a preliminary hearing and could get life in prison without parole if convicted on charges of aggravated murder.
Police say 17-year old Robert Cameron Houston raped and murdered Raechale Elton, a counselor at a group home, in February.
A male co-worker testified in court today that he saw Elton agree to give Houston a ride to another facility. The co-worker felt uneasy about it and went to check on Elton. Instead he found her body. He also says he saw Houston running away from the crime scene, his clothing soaked in blood.
Police say Elton had been brutually raped and her throat slit. After today's hearing, the death penalty is off the table. A recent US Supreme Court ruling forbids the execution of minors. - (crime) - (Black-on-White) |
Man Sentenced In 22-Year-Old Rape Case A Louisville woman was in court Friday to see the man who raped her sentenced to prison -- 22 years after the crime. Raymond Walker was recently convicted of raping the woman and stealing her car in 1984.
He surfaced only recently as a suspect after he was convicted in a separate rape case when his DNA was submitted to a national database.
Walker's victim asked the judge to show no mercy, and said she still fears for her safety. "As far as parole, I don't want to be a 60-year-old woman looking over my shoulder wondering if he's going to attack me again, or, as he threatened to do that night: kill me."
The judge gave Walker the maximum sentence for which he was eligible: 40 years in prison. - (crime) |
