This poll is not so much about Pokemon, Pat Buchanan or Freedom of Speech
but my impression that "World War II" never ended. It's been 54 years
since 1945 and most of us will move into the next Century or 'Millennium'
in less than a month. I was born during World War II and my father
dropped bombs on Italy and Germany. My father is 80 years old and
not moving around very fast. If he had been on the 'wrong side' he
might be subject to deportation or a 'war crimes tribunal'.
In
the long history of man there has been constant warfare - with wars ranging
from animalistic, to merely 'barbaric' to one of the high plateaus of
Western Civilization when wars were fought with rules, Chivalry and Gentlemanly
Honor. It seems that things have gone 'South' from there, with perhaps
the American War Between the States marking the decline - with Sherman's
Great Ecological March to the Sea and the punishment of the civilians
on the 'wrong side' with starvation, degradation and more - . (which perhaps
was a precedent to the new style of warfare in World War II).
So
without writing another book on the "War Between the States", or WWII
or the next one...
