  • Mexican Foreigners - Murderers and Rapists - Lose Death Row Appeal
Jose MedellinThe Supreme Court on Monday turned aside an appeal by a Mexican citizen on death row in Texas, who contended he and 51 other Mexicans should have their death sentences overturned because they were improperly denied legal help from their consulates in violation of international law. In an unsigned decision, justices dismissed the case of Jose Medellin, who argued he was entitled to a federal court hearing on whether his rights were violated when a Texas court tried and sentenced him to death in 1994 on rape and murder charges without consular access. - (White Boy) - (Mexico)

  • Women to Testify in Mexican Sex Trafficking Trial
NEW YORK -- The poor, uneducated teenager met Josue Flores Carreto at a pastry shop where she worked in central Mexico and, amid promises of a better life, they wed in 2001. What followed, federal prosecutors say, were beatings, threats and sex with strangers far from home.
The young woman's story, which Carreto disputes, is crucial to a federal case alleging he and a gang of fellow predators forced Mexican women like his bride into prostitution. Authorities say some of the victims were smuggled into New York in a scheme that made the gang hundreds of thousands of dollars while leaving the women penniless.
Carreto, 37, brother Gerardo Flores Carreto, 33, and Daniel Perez Alonso, 25, all Mexican nationals, were arrested last year after immigration agents targeted the ring's U.S. outpost -- two dingy apartments in Queens. The men, who pleaded not guilty to sex trafficking charges, are to go on trial Monday in federal court.
Others were arrested in Mexico -- including the Carreto brothers' mother, an alleged organizer of the ring -- on charges they forced an unknown number of women to become prostitutes.

  • Illegal aliens threaten U.S. medical system
Docs journal reports hospitals being closed, previously vanquished diseases being spread

"many illegal aliens harbor fatal diseases that American medicine fought and vanquished long ago, such as drug-resistant tuberculosis, malaria, leprosy, plague, polio, dengue, and Chagas disease."
  • Threat of TB close at hand - being imported by illegal Mexican aliens
Mexican"Tuberculosis has become a disease mostly of non-U.S.-born residents, and for us that mostly means Mexico," Simpson said. "In southern New Mexico and El Paso there's a huge migrant work force that travels back and forth to Mexico. It's almost improbable to think that they won't bring the disease with them into the United States." About 25 percent of the Mexican population is infected with tuberculosis and 6 percent with multi-drug-resistant TB.
  • Disease, unwanted import
Contagious diseases are entering the United States because of immigrants, illegal aliens, refugees and travelers, and World Health Organization officials say the worst could be yet to come.  In addition to a list of imported diseases that includes tuberculosis, sickle cell anemia, hepatitis B, measles and the potentially deadly parasitic disease Chagas, officials fear what could happen if the avian flu, which is flourishing among poultry in Southeast Asia, mutates so that it is capable of human-to-human transmission through casual contact.

Anasazi practiced cannibalism? One scientist thinks so.

Anthropologist has proven that the Anasazi and other Southwestern Indians practiced cannibalism, and that the practices came north to the Southwest and Chaco Canyon area from Mexico. Human sacrifice was rampant in Mexican culture. After the bodies were sacrificed in the temples and the blood and heart  were distributed, sometimes given to family or  conquering warriors, he believes that the priest may have cut up the body and distributed it.
